An article in Financial Executive magazine gave a collection agency’s knowledge, technology and employee training programs as three of the five factors that must be taken into consideration in selecting the right collection agency (Perlmutter, N. H., 2009). Spears, Dewitt & Hall’s (SDH) platforms in technology, employee training and employee knowledge provide a sustainable, competitive advantage that places SDH head and shoulders above others in the industry.
All Spears, Dewitt & Hall employees complete the SDH University curriculum upon initial hire and must obtain a minimum score of 90% on the exit exam in order to enter the collection floor for additional hands on training. The SDH University curriculum includes coursework in the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and the applicable State and local regulations and guidelines in which SDH operates. Additional areas of instruction include general sales training, leadership and collection skills and techniques.
SDH has also licensed two of the most innovative software support programs available to collection agencies. These programs allow for the flawless coordination, reporting and auditing of accounts in a volume that would have previously been impossible. The systems allow for our clients to receive near real time updates on the status of accounts placed with us rather than waiting days or weeks as with other agencies.
Similarly, a collection agency’s technical violation of a FDCPA, FCRA or CFPB regulation; such as timely providing the debtor confirmation of a debt; will often result in its client’s in-ability to collect an otherwise valid account. Our collector’s training and our technological platform greatly reduce the risk of technical non-compliance while at the same time enhancing the rates of recovery for our clients
Our investment in technology and our organization’s knowledge gives a return on investment that drops straight to our clients’ bottom line.
